Boom and Block
Phoenix is dark and the block grid is down. You boot up in Sector 01 with one charge in the rack.
Crack the circuit blocks, clear the patrol drones and find the transit portal buried somewhere in the grid - then get out before your own fire finds you.
Windows and Linux. No account needed to play.
What is in it
An eight-sector campaign
Sectors are districts on a generated map of the city of Phoenix, picked from an overworld rather than a list. A run carries its lives and score from one to the next, and ends in a boss.
Every block counts
Destroyed blocks are worth points, so reaching the portal with the board still standing is a real choice rather than a free win. Each sector is timed, and the results screen itemises where the score came from.
Your own bomber
An editor for colours, helmet, pack and emblem. Sign in and your bomber follows you to any machine; play offline and it stays on this one.
A level editor
Build boards at any size, or have one generated. Generated maps are checked to be finishable before you ever see them, so nothing hands you a sealed room.
Online versus and co-op
Two to eight players depending on the size of the board, refereed by a real game server rather than by whoever's client shouts loudest.
Settings that exist
Resolution, window mode, frame rate cap, vsync, separate volume for music and effects, and every gameplay key rebindable.

Getting it running
The download is free on itch.io. There is no installer and no launcher: the game is one file, and it writes only your settings, your progress and your own levels.
Windows
- Download
boom-and-block-windows.zip. - Right-click it, choose Extract All, and pick a folder you can find again.
- Run
boom-and-block-windows.exe.
SmartScreen may warn you the first time, because the build is not signed with a paid certificate. More info, then Run anyway.
Linux
unzip boom-and-block-linux.zip
chmod +x boom-and-block-linux.x86_64
./boom-and-block-linux.x86_64
The zip already carries the executable bit; the chmod is there
for the case where your extractor dropped it. 64-bit x86 only.

Do I need an account?
Not to play. The campaign, the level editor and your own bomber all work with no account and no connection.
An account gets you three things: online matches, a name nobody else can take, and a bomber and statistics that follow you to another machine. You can create one from inside the game or here on the site. What is stored and how to delete it is set out on the privacy page.
